Mechatronics is a multidisciplinary field of science that includes a combination of mechanical engineering, electronics, computer engineering, telecommunications engineering, systems engineering, and control engineering. As technology advances, subfields of engineering multiply and adapt. The goal of mechatronics is a design process that combines these subfields. Initially, mechatronics only included the combination of mechanics and electronics, so the word is a combination of mechanics and electronics; however, as technical systems have become increasingly complex, the definition has expanded to include more technical areas.
