The Department of Nursing was opened in February 2004 by the order of the Rector and the decision of the Academic Council of the Moscow Medical Academy named after I. Sechenov (now the First Moscow State Medical University named after I. Sechenov).

The Department of Nursing is the first department of the First Moscow State Medical University named after I. M. Sechenov (Sechenov University), created to provide clinical training to students of the Faculty of Higher Nursing Education and Psychological Social Work (FVSO and SDP) in the specialty 34.03.01 “Nursing” (Bachelor's degree) and 34.02.01 “Nursing” in the direction of ACT training. Since 2011, the Department has been teaching the discipline “Nursing” at the medical faculty and the practice of acquiring the primary professional skills “Patient Care” in the specialty 31.05.01 “General Medicine”. Our department has also been teaching the discipline of “First Aid and Nursing” since 2014 and the practice of acquiring “Sister” professional skills and professional experience in the specialty branch of “Dentistry” as of 31.05.03.
