The Sapienza University “Preparatory Year” Program is designed for international students who need to complete their basic education in order to pass the admission exam to Italian state universities (in various disciplines such as Medicine, Architecture, Science, Engineering and Humanities). The program is organized in Italian and is primarily aimed at students who do not meet the minimum educational requirements specified in the current legislation for enrollment in Italian universities.

Candidates can apply to the “Preparatory Year” Program if they want to improve their education or language skills, even if they have 12 years of education required for enrollment.

Students who successfully complete the program will be able to apply for Bachelor or Single Cycle degree programs at Sapienza University without having to take the Italian language exam valid for students from outside the EU. Attendance in at least 75% of the classes is mandatory.

Eligible Candidates

Candidates who meet the following requirements can apply to the program:

Have a high school diploma obtained abroad after 11 years of schooling;
Have at least B2 or equivalent level of English language proficiency.
