Civil Engineering deals with the design, construction, management and supervision of works, built structures and infrastructures that serve human activities in the territory.

In addition to the necessary scientific and technical skills, the Civil Engineer must possess the analysis skills that enable him/her to take responsibility in an informed manner, work with other stakeholders and understand interdisciplinary topics.

The Degree Programme in Civil Engineering provides students with a solid basic scientific preparation that enables them to reach the level of skills that is necessary to enter and work in the job market, as well as an appropriate technical preparation to achieve additional specific skills even by themselves.

At the same time, the Degree Programme has the essential function of preparing them for the Masters Degree in Civil Engineering, which provides them with a more complete and in-depth expertise related to the main topics of Civil Engineering, as well as a high-level practical and professional specialization in the fields of Hydraulics, Infrastructures, Geotechnics and Structures.

The Degree Programme in Civil Engineering is unique and articulated in semesters during which the following main competencies are developed progressively:

-First year of the Programme: basic knowledge of basic subjects (mathematical analysis, geometry, physics, chemistry);

-Second year: completion of the basic scientific training and elements of civil engineering (mathematical physics; construction science; hydraulics, graphic and computational skills, related subjects closely linked to engineering);

-Third year: introduction to some practical problems and training in the sectors that characterize civil engineering (geotechnics, construction techniques, hydraulic engineering and road construction).

The Programme is completed through the activities foreseen by the 270 Ministerial Decree, some of which are integrated into the third year subjects, thus guaranteeing a further reduction of the number of exams.
