MEPhI provides education with a unique education system called the "Phystech System" with its expert teachers in the field. In this method, an education process combined with basic science branches, engineering disciplines and research is followed. With this method, each student's own personal education plan is created. Students participate in a scientific study in their second and third years. It is aimed for the student to use their theoretical knowledge and experimental knowledge with sufficient engineering knowledge towards graduation. The strategic goal is to establish and develop a world-class scientific and education center in the fields of nuclear physics and technology, radiation materials science, elementary particle physics, astrophysics and cosmophysics.

Moscow University of Physics and Technology offers 1 year of preparatory + 5.5 years of specialized training. The first three years are taught in three main branches: mathematics, physics and English. There is no difference between the first three years and other faculties. Students receive 48 hours of education per week, excluding homework, in the first and second years of their education. Students who take classes 5 days a week can have classes starting from 9:00 or 10:30 and lasting until 17:00, 18:30 or 20:00 in the evening. Many classes are spent in the laboratory conducting experiments and observations. The INPhE development strategy aims to take leading positions in the following areas:
● Nuclear energy of the 21st century (multi-component nuclear energy, closed fuel cycle, nuclear waste disposal, nuclear power plant safety);

● Radiation and radiation technologies (materials science, radiation physics, electronics, etc.);
● high energy physics and elementary particle physics, astrophysics and cosmophysics (new states of matter, ultra-high energy particles, spin and polarization effects, neutrino properties and gamma-ray astronomy);

● applied aspects of solar-terrestrial physics, improvement of methods for monitoring potentially hazardous processes in the Earth's atmosphere and near-Earth space;

● new system for personnel training for science-intensive sectors of the economy.
